Welcome to the 2021-22 school year!
We hope this message reaches you in the best of spirits as we begin the semester in community with each other. We would like to take this time to point you to some important information, policies, and resources.
First, Willamette University is dedicated to educating students in and out of the classroom. Rooted in this commitment is the expectation that students will act in accordance with shared community values and principles that aim to create vibrant learning communities. These expectations can be found in the Student Code of Conduct posted on the Student Affairs Department website. The Student Code of Conduct also sets out the behavior review process and applies to all Willamette University students, whether they reside on or off campus.
Second, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and gender in higher education. The Student Sexual Misconduct Policy includes specific information about behaviors that fall under Title IX. The You Are Not Alone website, the sexual misconduct website, and the Title IX website provide additional information and resources.
Third, in compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, you will find the university’s alcohol and drug addiction policy and resources on the University Policies website. This policy statement includes the impact of alcohol, drug, resource and alcohol abuse on campus and the policy of university events. Specific details about alcohol violations and violations of controlled substances and/or drugs are found in the Student Code of Conduct.
If you have questions or concerns about students’ responsibilities and expectations, or any of the information in the Student Code of Conduct or the University Policies website, please contact the Office of Student Affairs at email@example.com or at 503-370-6447.
We wish you all the best this school year.
