Zonta Club of Alpena offering scholarships to area women | News, Sports, Jobs

ALPENA – Scholarship Committee Chair Diane O’Connor has announced that the Zonta Club of Alpena will award seven scholarships totaling $5,250 for the 2022/2023 academic year to deserving women.

Scholarship applications are available on the Zonta Club of Alpena Facebook page or through zonta15.org under the Alpena link.

The following scholarships are available:

¯ The Young Women in Public Affairs Award provides a $750 scholarship awarded to a female student at Alpina High School in recognition of her leadership in public policy, government, and voluntary organizations. The recipient of a YWPA Scholarship from the Zonta Club of Alpena is eligible for a District Prize of $1,500 and a Zonta International Prize of $5,000. Applications are available at the AHS Career Resource Center. The deadline is March 15th.

¯ The Zonta Club of the Alpena Four-Year College/University Scholarship will offer a $750 award to an AHS senior who will attend a four-year college or university on a full-time basis upon high school graduation. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required, in addition to participation in extracurricular, community, and service activities. The deadline for this scholarship is March 15th. Applications are available at the AHS Career Resource Center.

¯ The Zonta Club Scholarship for Alpena-Alpena High School Students will provide an award of $750 to two senior AHS staff who will attend Alpena Community College on a full-time basis upon high school graduation. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required, in addition to participation in extracurricular, community, and service activities. The deadline for this scholarship is March 1st. Applications are available at the AHS Career Resource Center or the ACC under Scholarships website.

¯ The Zonta Club Alpina Unconventional Student Scholarship will provide a $750 scholarship to two women who have been out of high school for at least five years or more. Applicants must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED, be a resident of Alpena County and enrolled full-time at Alpena Community College. The deadline for this scholarship is March 1st.
